David Davis in Parliament today
Today in Parliament, David Davis raised concerns about the way Cheshire Police handled the Lucy Letby case, questioning their decisions and oversight in a case that has already shaken public trust.
In response, Sarah Jones defended the police, saying they followed procedure and that the public shouldn’t lose faith in them.
This is exactly the problem. Reassuring people that procedure was followed doesn’t fix anything. Trust would be far better restored if the police had the decency to own their mistakes and put them right. Without that, it’s hard to believe that, if another innocent person were ever caught up in a serious error, the priority would be to make it right rather than to save face.
I've written to Sarah Jones about this, her email is sarah.jones.mp@parliament.uk
